0657.420Y - Design and Implementation of a Bluetooth Repeater System

2010

Abstract: With the considerable recent growth in Bluetooth and Bluetooth enabled devices, the limitations of the protocol are becoming apparent. Currently limited to 10 metres, the range of Bluetooth is too short for applications where constant roaming is required.
This project investigates a repeater system that extends BluetoothÂ’s range over arbitrary long distances, while retaining the performance and security benefits of a
low-range system. Design details of the necessary hardware are included, as well as a discussion of the custom firmware and software used in the design.
